Caledonian Marts Ltd held their weekly Sale of Prime Sheep & Cast Ewes comprising of 815 Prime Lambs with an average of 367ppk. Lighter Lambs were slightly easier on the week with heavy Lambs still coming to good pounds per head. This is 210 Lambs up on the year with the average up 31ppk. Also from this sale two years ago we’re 399 Lambs up with the average up 64ppk.
Today’s Sale topped at 448ppk for a Beltex from Bankhead Farming, Crook of Devon and per head to £220 on two occasions for Texel’s from P G Perring, Hoprig, Cockburnspath.
A smaller show of 149 Ewes still met a fierce trade with an average of £148 which included one third of Blackfaces. Today’s Ewes topped at £257 for Texel’s again from P G Perring, Hoprig, Cockburnspath.
