Caledonian Marts Ltd had their weekly Sale of Prime Sheep & Cast Ewes.
A mixed show of Hoggs were forward with all classes remaining a strong trade. Good meat Hoggs still achieving 400+ppk, heavier Hoggs slightly harder to sell but still achieving more PPH.
Prime Hoggs averaged 380ppk with an SQQ of 393ppk and £170 per head, the sale topped at 532ppk for a Beltex from DS & RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill and £250 for a Beltex from the same home.
Cast Ewes sold to £265 for a Texel from R Wardrop, Easter Coates, Upper Largo.
Cast Tups sold to £237 for a pair of Texels from H C Maitland, Grange of Lindores, Newburgh.
