Judging is in the able hands of Jimmy Stark of M J Stark, Paisley, a local butcher and wholesaler whom supports Caledonian Marts primestock sales weekly throughout the year.
Today’s sale met a strong trade with Heifers averaging 408.5p per kg selling to 438p per kg for a Limousin from A Pettigrew, Faskine purchased by G Kirk, Butchers, Denny and to £3206 for a Limousin from A Kennedy & Son, Seggersdean purchased by H A Black & Son, Butchers, Stirling.
Bullocks averaged 394.92p per kg selling to 430p per kg for a Limousin from A A & J Brand, Nethermyres purchased by T Johnston, Butchers, Falkirk and to £2763 for a Limousin again from Faskine, purchased by T Johnston Butchers, Falkirk.
With 90% of the OTM’s being feeding cows forward, they were met by a strong ringside of buyers, averaging 264p per kg, selling to 408p per kg for a Limousin from A Kennedy & Son, Seggersdean and to £2900 for a Limousin from W & R Thomson, Cairnbog.
Dairy cows sold to 280p per kg from W & M Wyllie, Broompark and to £2300 from the same home.
