Caledonian Marts Ltd held their weekly sale of 52 Prime Cattle & Young Bulls followed by 82 OTM Cattle.
A mixed show of Prime Cattle forward with quite a lot of weight kicking about in the bullocks, still met with a respectful trade. Where as OTM’s a lot of boning/ feeding cows forward, still met a huge demand with 11 buyers present. With cows travelling from Stranraer, Scottish Borders and Aberdeen, many more could’ve been sold to the sellers advantage.

Prime Heifers averaged 376ppk selling to 410ppk on two occasions for a Simmental from Ross Brothers, Wardhead and for a British Blue from JH & NT Turnbull, Meadowend, purchased by W F Stark, Buckhaven. Heifers per head sold to £2706 for a Limousin from Skeoch Farms, Stirling.
Prime Bullocks averaged 345ppk selling to 375ppk on two occasions for a Limousin from JH & NT Turnbull, Meadowend and for a Limousin from J & J Rearie, Riggs. Bullocks per head sold to £2880 for a Charolais from Ross Brothers, Wardhead.
Young Bulls sold to 362ppk for a Limousin from A Kennedy, Seggarsdean and per head to £2519 for a Limousin again from A Kennedy, Seggarsdean.
OTM’s averaged 250ppk selling to 348ppk for a Shorthorn from Ross Brothers, Wardhead and per head to £2800 for a Limousin from W & M Wylie, Broompark.
Dairy Cows sold to 287ppk for a Friesian from Balgreggan Farms, Stranraer and per head to £2260 for a Friesian from T Greer, Wharlawhill.
