Caledonian Marts Ltd had their weekly Sale of New Season Lambs, Prime Sheep & Cast Ewes.
New Season Lambs met a strong trade with a great show on offer for the buyers. Many more could be sold.
A “read up” show of hoggs was on offer, good meat still sold well.
165 New Season Lambs averaged 444ppk with an SQQ of 448ppk selling to 533ppk for a Beltex from DS & RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill and to £259 for a Texel from A P Johnston, Blindburn, Mauchline.
443 Prime Hoggs averaged 342ppk with an SQQ of 343ppk selling to 410ppk for a pen of Suffolk’s from J Gilvear, Graystale and to £208 for the same pen from Graystale.
222 Cast Ewes sold to £243 for a Texel from J Brownlie & Co, Inchgall, Lochgelly.
