Caledonian Marts Ltd had their weekly Sale of 1260 Prime Sheep & 142 Cast Ewes.
Hoggs met an absolute flying trade; you had to see it to believe it! Many more could have been sold to the seller’s advantage.
Prime Hoggs averaged 383ppkg with an SQQ of 389ppkg and £158 per head. The sale topped at 590ppkg for a Beltex from DS & RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill and to £230 on two occasions for a Beltex from G & J Davie, Harviesmailing, Denny and DS & RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill
Cast Ewes sold to £215 for a Texel Ewe from W H M Warnock, Gartfinnan, Clackmannan.
Cast Tups sold to £149 for a Blackface Tup from A Rankin, Edentaggart, Glen Luss.
