Rules and Regulations 2009/2010 Young Farmers CALF COMPETITION

All competitors must be full bona fide members of Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs and must be under 30 years of age.

Any competitor who is a member out with Clyde & Central must pay an entry fee of £20.00 within seven days after the date of purchase (return form and address below)

In order for calves to be financed they must be bought through Caledonian Marts or other markets run by the Caledonian Marts. No calves will be insured through Caledonian Market.  It will be up to the individual to insure their own calf/calves.

Calves must be entered into the competition by filling in an entry form on day of purchase at any Caledonian Market.  Calves purchased out with Caledonian Market must be registered with Caledonian Marts, within 5 days with a purchase slip consisting of animals tag number, date of birth, weight and auctioneers signature from the market were purchased from.

There will be no private purchase of animals allowed. There will be no price limit on calves.

The maximum weight of calves on the day of purchase is 350kg however there is an allowance of 10kg at the competitor’s discretion.

Any calves, which are purchased from any pens, will be re-weighed individually and the weigh and price of individual animals will be adjusted accordingly, verified by the market from which calves are purchased.

All calves must stay on the premises of Caledonian Marts though out the duration of the show and sale.  This means calves must be trained to be tied over night by halter and neck rope.

Calves will be individually weighed by the Caledonian Marts as they arrive on the Sunday of the Rally. The formation of the classes will be decided on the basis of the calves purchased.

When the calf arrives at the market on the day of the competition, only the competitor or a member of SAYFC can assist with the preparation of the calf.

All calves must be put through the sale. If they are not put through the sale, they will forfeit any prize money they may have won at the show.

Calves can be purchased from 4th September 2009 – 31st December 2009.

CALEDONIAN MARTS (Stirling) Ltd will also offer a special prize for the “Champion” calf of £250.00 if the calf is purchased from any of their sales.
