Caledonian Marts (Stirling) Ltd

Oban – Caledonian Marts (Stirling) Ltd (Tuesday 13^th September) had forward 214 store cattle, 12 breeding cattle, 31 OTM cattle and 718 store lambs and feeding ewes.

The show was judged by J McAllister, Wester Thomaston, Banknock and the following were his awards.

Champion was exhibited by D McDonald, Tyree, Benderloch with a Limousin Heifer scaling 410kgs made £900 to A Wilson, Laigh Gree, Beith.

Reserve Champion a Black Limousin Bullock from Messrs Troughton, Ardachy, North Connel scaled 405kgs made £800 to J McAllister.

2^nd prize Bullock from A Buchanan, Achnaba, North Connel scaled 440kgs made £960 to A Wilson, Laigh Gree.

3^rd prize D McDonald, Tyree scaled 480kgs £910 to A Wilson.

2^nd prize Heifer Messrs Troughton, 415kgs £830 to J McAllister.

3^rd prize A Buchanan, 330kgs £700 to J McAllister.

Bullocks (118) averaged 181p for a 440kg Limousin from Achnaba and to £960 for a 440kgs Limousin from Achnaba.

Heifers (96) averaged 171p (+20p on the year) to 220p for a 410kg Limousin from Tyree, Benderloch and £900 for a 410kg from Tyree.

Leading prices Bullocks: 0-250kgs – £530 Glencreran Estates, 182p Torosay; 301-350kgs – £600, 182p Glencreran; 351-400kgs – £845, 214p Achnaba; 401-450kgs – £960, 218p Achnaba; 451-500kgs – £910, 190p Tyree.

Breeding cattle sold to £880 for a Shorthorn Cow with Calf from Stroneskar, Ford.

Leading prices In Calf Cows: £790 Dunmhor, £740 Ardachy, £670 Kilbride.

OTM cattle sold to 146p per kg for a 590kg Limousin Cow form Ardachy, North Connel and to £930 for a 715kg Limuosin cows again from Ardachy.

Leading prices OTM: Luing - £860 Ardencaple & Ardachy; Cross - £750 Dunmhor; Shortnhorn - £700 Muckairn.

Store Lambs to £61 for a pen of Suffolks from Dunadd, Lochgilphead.

Leading prices Lambs: Suff x - £59 Dalvore; Chev - £59 Cailaich; Mule - £50 Dalvore; BF - £40 Creag-a-Mhadaidh.

Leading prices Feeding Ewes: Mule - £62 Frackersaig; Cross - £54 Dalvore; BF - £45 Frackersaig.
